The MicroLearning Theory

ree

"With the rapid progression of modern technologies, individuals have numerous opportunities to enhance their knowledge and develop their skills. However, they also face the challenge of maintaining focus.

For instance, did you know that goldfish have a 9-second attention span, while humans have 8 seconds? This fact is quite surprising. In response to the desire for continuous learning and the decreasing attention span, some forward-thinking individuals have introduced the concept of microlearning apps. This concept involves breaking down lengthy lessons into smaller segments, typically taking between three to six minutes to comprehend.

The benefits of microlearning are numerous, including being faster and more efficient than traditional learning methods, less time-consuming, more engaging and interactive, highly flexible, and suitable for mobile devices. However, it also has its drawbacks, such as being too fragmented in some cases and not suitable for complex assignments or long-term goals.

Here are some microlearning edtech "tools";

Duolingo.com - One of the best ways to learn a foreign language.

Canva - Put together any type of graphic element online fast and easy. Many useful templates.  You can create ebooks for free here.

TED-Ed - Build lessons online with ease.

Explain Everything - A whiteboarding platform where people meet to share ideas and make them visual and clear so they can better understand each other.

Infographics - Are graphic visual representations of information, data, or knowledge intended to present information quickly and clearly. They can improve cognition by using graphics to enhance the human visual system's ability to see patterns and trends.
